As of today we had (0) individual(s) who have tested positive for COVID-19. This makes for a total of (0) active case(s) throughout the school. If individual(s) test positive, they will be excluded from school until they have been determined to be no longer infectious by their local Health Department.
Here is how this case is being handled as we work with the local Health Department. The children and staff who interacted closely with the individual(s) within the school district have been contacted by their local Health Department and/or by the school.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a virus that is spread even before individuals show symptoms. It spreads from person to person through droplets created when we cough, sneeze, talk, sing or laugh. Thus, it is ever important for all students, family members, and staff members to closely watch for symptoms that are outside of their “normal” range, wear masks when safer distance isn’t obtainable and to stay home if they are ill. If symptoms occur, please contact your medical provider to request testing.
If you or a family member who lives within the same household is symptomatic and is being tested, all students should remain home until test results are confirmed.
We also want to thank those individuals who have contacted our Medical Screener, Christine Nordness, when they have had COVID - symptom related questions. We encourage people to call or email when there are questions. The pattern we are seeing is that people are having close contacts in the community with COVID positive individuals.
The school district will continue cleaning and disinfecting the school to control the spread of illness.
Please remember to slow the spread of COVID-19:
Stay home when ill.
Wear a face covering, when in public if physically able.
Wash hands frequently with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable.
Clean frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, tables, etc.
Limit unnecessary travel, events, or large gatherings.
Be extra careful during family gatherings as many of the COVID related incidents are the result of close contact with family members or other social events during which safer distancing, mask wearing and other precautions are not occurring
We all need to continue to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19, and to keep our students and staff members safe. Please contact Christine Nordness,Medical Screener at cnordness@solonk12.net for further information.
